Fragment (Egypt)

This is a Fragment. It is dated 5th–6th century and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is linen warp; wool and linen weft and its technique is two pieces sewn together; the top appliquéd to the bottom. bottom fabric plain weave with bands of weft loops. top square of tapestry (plain weave with slits, wrapped warps and slanted wefts). It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
