Sampler (Mexico)
This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Maria Rosa Masedo. It is dated possibly 1803 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk embroidery on cotton foundation and its technique is embroidered in buttonhole, cross, long-armed cross, interlaced looping stitches and withdrawn element work with needle made fillings including aztec stitch, on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
