Sampler (Mexico)

This is a Sampler. It is dated 1840s and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk, metal, and metal-wrapped silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in satin, stem, chain, and knot stitches with couching plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
