Sampler

This is a Sampler. It is dated ca. 1882 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is mercerized cotton embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in satin, feather, cross, eyelet, and detached chain stitches, with withdrawn element work and deflected element work with looping and overcasting stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
