Sampler (Germany)

This is a Sampler. It is dated 1749 and we acquired it in 1941. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk embroidery, linen foundation and its technique is two-sided cross, marking cross, long-armed cross, stem, satin, running, double running, eyelet, and herringbone stitches on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
