This is a Drawing. It was patron: Pope Urbanus VIII. We acquired it in 1938. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
Pope Urban VIII was an art patron and collector. His pontificate (1623-1644) can be assessed from the point of view of architectural and artistic accomplishments as one of the greatest. It is credited Museum purchase through gift of various donors and from Eleanor G. Hewitt Fund.
