Drawing (Italy)

This is a Drawing. We acquired it in 1938. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Subiaco, a community in central Italy, had been the diocese of Pope Pius VI when he was a cardinal. His visit on this occasion, seven years after the beginning of his pontificate, was given great importance as he was on his way to see the Emperor Joseph II in Vienna.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of various donors and from Eleanor G. Hewitt Fund.
