Drawing, Plate Illustrating Fanmaking from Diderot's "Encyclopédie"

This is a Drawing. It was manufactured by Denis Diderot. It is dated 1751–1766 and we acquired it in 1980. Its medium is engraving on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.


The final plate depicts the mount being pleated and trimmed. The slips of the sticks are inserted and the completed mount is edged with a narrow band of paper.

It is credited Gift of Unknown Donor.
