Side Chair (USA)
This is a Side chair. It was designed by Charles Rohlfs. It is dated 1901 and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is oak, leather cushions (modern replacements). It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
One of the leading artists of the American Arts and Crafts movement, Charles Rohlfs produced custom built solid oak furniture in his workship at Buffalo. His work became widely known through participation in large international exhibitions. (Toward Modern Design, 1993)
It is credited Museum purchase from Mary Blackwelder Memorial Fund.
