Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Charlotte Spier. It is dated 1788 and we acquired it in 1976. Its medium is silk embroidery on linen foundation and its technique is embroidered in eye, counted cross, herringbone and overcasting stitches on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.
