Chintz (India)

This is a Chintz. It is dated 18th century and we acquired it in 1973. Its medium is cotton and its technique is mordants (black, 3 reds, 2 purples) applied by brush or pen (red over a resist); blue applied by brush over resist; yellow (now faded) applied by brush; chintz on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
