This is a Sample. It was designed by Mary Walker Phillips and student at Cranbrook Academy of Art and woven by Mary Walker Phillips. It is dated 1960–63 and we acquired it in 1971. Its medium is lurex® (cellulose acetate butyrate film laminated aluminum yarn), insulating glass, polyvinylidene chloride:methyl methacrylate), silk and its technique is two intercrossed plain weave structures (double cloth), each cloth a band of plain weave alternating with a single shot of insulating glass. two cloths held together by an inter-cross of the two layers and at the edges by the fiber weft. It is a part of the Textiles department.
