Bracelet (the Latin words NONRELINQUES on one side, NONRELINQUAM on the other) Bracelet
This is a Bracelet. It was made by Fortunato Pio Castellani & Sons. It is dated ca. 1870 and we acquired it in 1964. Its medium is gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This bracelet is ornamented with the Latin phrase "non-relinquam" ( I will not forsake) on one side and "Non relinques" ( you will not forsake) on the other. The inscriptions may have had patriotic significance for the Castellani family, who were actively invovled in the political upheavals in Italy durin ghte middle years of the nineteenth century. (Jewelry 1989-90)
