Drawing, Floral design for printed textiles, 1800–1818
This is a Drawing. It was designed by Louis-Albert DuBois and manufactured by Fabrique de Fazy aux Bergues. It is dated 1800–1818 and we acquired it in 1957. Its medium is brush and gouache, graphite on white wove paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
This drawing for a block printed dress fabric illustrates the effect of
reversing the background and stem colors in the design, creating two
different colorways simply by changing color placements. In practice,
different printing technologies would have been used to create these
two effects.

It is credited Museum purchase from Friends of the Museum Fund.
