This is a Pleated fan. It is dated late 18th–mid- 19th century and we acquired it in 1953. Its medium is gouache-painted and gilded parchment leaf backed with paper, pierced, carved, painted and gilded ivory sticks, tortoise shell rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.
