Miser's Purse
This is a Miser's purse. It is dated 1810–30 and we acquired it in 1953. Its medium is silk, metal and its technique is netting. It is a part of the Textiles department.
Miser’s purses were used by men and women to carry coins and other small objects. The metal rings slide to the side to reveal a slit which gives access to the contents inside.
