Spoon (Norway)
This is a spoon. It was made by "PB". It is dated 1804 and we acquired it in 1951. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
text from "Historical Overview" in Feeding Desire exhibition catalogue:
" As with Scandinavia (figs. 64,65) and the Low Countires, the prevalence of spoons among the extant flatware from eighteenth century Russia implies that fork usage probably only made major strides with the arrival of Catherine the Great, a German princess who came to the throne in 1762 and set out to make St. Petersburg an enlightened Western capital."
