Sidewall, Trains
This is a sidewall. It was manufactured by Piazza Prints Inc.. It is dated 1950–51 and we acquired it in 1952. Its medium is screen printed on paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.
Innovations in transportation and mobility have been popular themes on wallpaper since the Industrial Revolution. From horse-drawn trains, to steam engines, to feats of civil engineering, advances in mobility have been portrayed on wallpapers. Steinberg has captured the immensity of the railroad network, cavernous train stations, as well as the lone patron waiting forlornly by the track.
