Woman's Mantle (chyrpy) (Turkmenistan)

This is a Woman's mantle (chyrpy). It is dated 19th century and we acquired it in 1950. Its medium is silk embroidery, wool appliqué, cotton foundation and its technique is embroidered and appliquéd on plain weave foundation. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Samuel A. Howes. It is credited Gift of Samuel A. Howes.
