This is a Armchair with slip seat. It was made by John Hewitt. It is dated ca. 1820 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is turned joined mahogany-veneered oak, horse hair upholstery (probably replaced). It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The maker of this chair was the Hewitt sisters’ paternal grandfather.
