Sarong (kain Songket) (Indonesia)

This is a Sarong (kain songket). It is dated early 19th century and we acquired it in 1937. Its medium is silk, metallic threads and its technique is plain weave with discontinuous supplementary weft patterning (brocade). It is a part of the Textiles department.
