With a wide variety of fresh flowers readily available in New York City, Crownfield likely purchased stems of flowers from the city’s largest outdoor flower market located in Union Square. Like her other flower studies, this group of three drawings suggests careful observation of upright stems. Here, her more straightforward treatment of flowers is carried over to the silk textiles in the case below.
