Pitcher Pitcher

This is a Pitcher. It was manufactured by Tiffany & Co.. It is dated 1877–1885 and we acquired it in 1926. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This Kane gift may be a family heirloom from the Kanes, Astors or Schermerhorns. It comes from New York at a date when these forebears of the donors were prominent. Its repoussé and chased overall floral decoration, a style popularized by the Baltimore firm of Samuel Kirk and Sons some thirty years earlier, continued in fashion throughout most of the nineteenth century.

This object was bequest of Mrs. John Innes Kane. It is credited Bequest of Mrs. John Innes Kane.
