Drawing, Design for a Saltcellar

This is a Drawing. It was created by Giulio Romano. It is dated 1524–46 and we acquired it in 1911. Its medium is pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash on white laid paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

This object was donated by Advisory Council. It is credited Purchased for the Museum by the Advisory Council.

Sheet: 7 × 12.9 cm (2 3/4 × 5 1/16 in.) Image: 5.4 × 11.3 cm (2 1/8 × 4 7/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Stamp of J. Richardson Sr. (Lugt 2184) in right bottom corner of the mounting paper. Stamp of Earl Spencer, similar to Lugt 1531 is written with ink on reverse, "a,115", "no 43" . Catalogue collection Destailleur no. 62. From the collection of Leon Decloux. entered Decloux's collection after 1906.
