Pedestal Pedestal
This is a pedestal. It was possibly by Frankenthal Porcelain Factory. It is dated late 18th century and we acquired it in 1903. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This pedestal would have been used to support a small porcelain figurine. In the last eighteenth century, dessert tables could be designed to resemble miniature gardens decorated with sculptures on plinths, like those found in actual gardens.
