This is a drawing. It was created by Carlo Marchionni. It is dated 1755–57 and we acquired it in 1901. Its medium is pen and brown ink, brush and brown, gray wash, graphite on cream laid paper . It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Sarah and Eleanor pursued purchases from important European collections, including those owned by Giovanni Piancastelli and Jean Léon Decloux, to expand the museum’s holdings of works on paper. These rich collections represented not only the work of influential artists, but also depictions of decorative arts and architecture valuable to the study of design.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of various donors.

Watermark: Tracing mounted beneath drawing shows a decorated shield with crown ornamantation on top enclosing the Strasburg lily. Underneath are the letters "VDL". Stamp in black ink, lower left, Lugt 457c: Museum for the Arts of Decoration Cooper Union
