D6 Combiscope Slide Viewer And Projector
This is a Slide Viewer and Projector. It was designed by Dieter Rams and manufactured by Braun AG. It is dated 1963 and we acquired it in 2017. Its medium is molded plastic, enameled metal, glass, rubber. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The D6 Combiscope was the second slide projector that Braun brought to market. It functioned as both a slide projector and, when tilted, as a viewer. Its compactness, simplicity, and clean lines are emblematic of Rams’s design aesthetic. The Combiscope provided an image with dimensions of 12 by 18 inches at a distance of four feet, allowing the projector operator to sit with their audience and enjoy a more intimate slide-viewing experience.
