Lectron Intercoms

This is a Intercoms. It was designed by Dieter Rams and Jurgen Greubel and manufactured by Braun AG. It is dated 1967 and we acquired it in 2017. Its medium is molded plastic, perspex, steel and electronic components. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

At a toy fair in Nuremberg, Germany in 1966, engineer George Greger introduced The Lectron System of small magnetic blocks that could be arranged to create electrical circuits. In 1967, Braun began producing and distributing this educational set and also released two new assembly kits, a radio receiver and these intercoms, along with it. The top, sides, and back of the intercoms are translucent so that the user can observe the internal circuitry.
