Hanna Hedman, born and based in Stockholm, Sweden, is a contemporary jeweler. She has studied and trained in Sweden, New Zealand and the United States. Hedman was at the art department of Western State College in Colorado from 1999 to 2001 and received her BA (2005) from Konstfack in Stockholm in Ädellab- silversmithing and jewelry. From 2005 to 2006, she was at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, New Zealand, receiving a BFA in both silversmithing and jewelry. In 2006, she returned to Konstfack to receive her MFA (2008) in Ädellab- silversmithing and jewelry under the guidance of Ruudt Peters and Karen Pontoppidan.
Her ornamental jewelry combines abstraction with figural forms and addresses the intersection between reality and fantasy. In 2008, upon completion of her MFA, her series “Enough Tears to Cry for Two,” was exhibited in New York City. She has participated in both solo and group exhibitions internationally, and has won many awards for her intricate and fantastical designs. Her work is in both private and public collections, including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.
