Oasa DuVerney (b. 1979) is a New York City-based educator and interdisciplinary artist working in the mediums of drawing, video, and public art installation. She received a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2007 and an MFA from Hunter College in 2012. DuVerney’s work often depicts portraits of cultural and political figures in contemporary society and centers on issues that range from income inequality to cultural appropriation. In 2010, she co-founded The Brooklyn Hi-Art Machine with Mildred Beltré, which focuses on socially engaged projects that explore art making as a community-building tool through installations and workshops.
