Matt Dorfman (he/him), an alumnus of Syracuse University, is the Art Director for the New York Times Book Review while simultaneously operating Metalmother, a one-person office specializing in work for publishers, film, theater, and other cultural institutions. He has worked as the former art director for The New York Times Op-Ed page and has worked with clients including Serial, The New Yorker, Penguin, Patheon, The Atlantic, Playboy, Time, Vanity Fair, Esquire, and Verso among many others. He has spoken for AIGA Philadelphia, The Society of Publication Designers, Dallas Society of Visual Communication and Type Director’s Club as well as Syracuse University Illustration Symposium
