Cooper Hewitt says...

Zachary (Zach) Watson was an American artist, programmer, and design technologist. Following his 2007 graduation with a B.A. in Architecture and Theater from University of California, Berkeley, Watson worked as a lab technician in the 3D Animation and Visual Effects Lab at the Academy of Art University. By 2011, he was a data visualization programmer for the Center of Urban Pedagogy in Brooklyn, New York, where he worked on the Envisioning Development project with Sha Hwang, a former design technologist at Stamen Design. Following the project, Stamen hired Watson as a design technologist to work on various mapping and data visualization projects. He tragically passed in 2014 following an accident. In his memory, Stamen Design and Gray Area Foundation for the Arts founded the Zachary Watson Memorial Education Fund, which awards young creative technologists with a $5,000 grant to further their education.
