American Revolution Bicentennial Administration
The American Revolution Bicentennial Administration (ARBA) was created in 1973 to coordinate and aid in scheduling events and projects at the state, federal, and international levels related to the 200th anniversary in 1976 of the culmination of the American Revolution and the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. When the original American Revolution Bicentennial Commission’s (ARBC) plan to put on a world’s fair-style expo was met with trepidation and hostility, the ARBA was founded, which focused on celebration and commemoration at a more local level. Communities could register projects, which, if approved, could display the official tricolored star logo.
