Höchsmann studied under Josef Hoffmann at the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Arts) in Vienna and later became a member of the Wiener Werkstätte from 1925–26, where she designed textiles. She also designed wallpaper for Max Schmidt in Vienna. Höchsmann opened her own fashion salon in Vienna in 1927. In the postwar era, she became a professor at the Akademie für angewandte Kunst (Academy of Applied Arts) in Vienna beginning in 1959 where she taught a master class on fashion and textiles.
