Arline Fisch studied at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in art education. She received her Master of Arts at the University of Illinois in 1954. Two years later, she studied silversmithing at the Kunsthaandvaerkerskolen in Copenhagen, Denmark. Fisch has been recognized for introducing weaving techniques into the field of jewelry, and for her role in making jewelry a contemporary art form. During her sixty-year career, she has garnered many honors and awards, including a Gold Medal from the American Craft Council, three Fulbright Scholarships and the National Endowment for the Arts Craftsman’s Fellowship. Her work is featured in many public collections, including the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Montreal, Canada, the Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim, the Victorial & Albert Museum, London, the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the Royal Scottish Museum, the Vatican Museum, and many others. In addition to her work as an artist, she has also taught at San Diego State University, Skidmore College and Wheaton College. She has held positions as a trustee of the American Craft Council, President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, and many other positions.
