Gota Tragardh was a Swedish fashion designer and fashion illustrator. Tragardh graduated from the Tekniska skolan (Technical School) in Stockholm in 1925. A year later she received her first major assignment as a fashion illustrator at Bonnier’s weekly newspaper. Her fashion illustrations had a unique austere geometric style and used clear-cut silhouettes. She later became the fashion editor at Bonnier. In addition to her work at the magazine, Tragardh designed shop interiors and displays for the Swedish fashion company Martha School.
Tragardh was regularly commissioned to design stage sets for theater productions. In 1930, she collaborated with architect Gunnar Asplund on the decoration sfor the Stockholmsutstallningen, a major exhibition. In 1939, she and her husband, Anders Beckman founded Beckmans School for advertising and fashion and she became a teacher of printed textiles and fashion illustration. From 1954 on, she was creative director for several different textile companies
