Graphic designer and educator Linda Powell received her Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and a Masters degree in Education from Western Michigan University. Powell spent fifteen years working as a graphic designer and Senior Communications Manager at renowned furniture company Herman Miller, Inc. where she was awarded Outstanding Employee and was a part of the group that received the Outstanding Team Award during her tenure there. Along with designing marketing materials, environmental graphics, signage, and employee communications, Powell also collaborated with designers such as Stephen Frykholm and Barbara Loveland.

In 1991, Powell switched gears and began working as an Associate Professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI where she worked with upperclassmen in the design program. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, notably the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Fellow Award-the highest honor offered to members of the graphic design community. Powell's current work is a reflection of her pioneering efforts as a designer and forward-thinking educator for future graphic design professionals: she is leading the establishment of the West Michigan Graphic Design Archives at the Zhang Legacy Collections Center at Western Michigan University.
