Perfume Flacon, Antilope

This is a Perfume Flacon.

This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Anonymous as part of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.

It is dated 1931. Its medium is molded and gilded glass.

Weil, a Parisian furrier, also created perfumes to be worn with their furs, which had their own tanning aroma. In 1931 Georges Schwander designed this flacon for Weil’s perfume, Antilope, using a popular motif of the period.

It is credited Christie Mayer Lefkowith Collection.
