Vase
This is a vase.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from The Art Institute of Chicago as part of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.
Even before the tour of selections from the Paris exposition reached Chicago in 1926, collectors there were acquiring French ceramics, such as this vase, from The Art Institute of Chicago’s annual selling exhibitions. Buthaud’s ceramics were exhibited in 1928 at Lord & Taylor in New York.
It is credited Lent by The Art Institute of Chicago, Gift of Arthur T. Aldis and Russell Tyson, 1924.980.
