Brooch

This is a Brooch. It was designed by Petra Zimmermann. It is dated 2010 and we acquired it in 2022. Its medium is polymethyl methacrylate, crushed pearls, rhinestones, smoky quartz, lacquer, gold leaf, blackened silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Zimmermann's interest in costume jewelry and a bygone era of glamor is expressed here as an abundance of rhinestones and intensely hued plastic set to resemble a bright, sparkling floral form.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
