Paper House
This is a Paper House. It was made for (as the client) Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London. It is dated 2005. Its medium is steel, wood, brass, glass.
How can you make a newsstand quicker to set up?
To reduce the time it usually takes newspaper sellers to set up each morning, the studio designed a kiosk that is ready in ten minutes and also looks interesting when closed. Curved walls rotate open and slide around each other, allowing vendors to have magazines in place ahead of time so they can open their doors ready for business. Paper House is a prefabricated object with a steel skeleton, a wood interior, and a brass exterior. Two of these kiosks were installed in London’s Chelsea neighborhood, one near the Sloane Street subway stop
