Model, Veiled
This is a Model. It was designed by Florian Idenburg, SO-IL, Jing Liu and Ilias Papageorgiou and design team member: Andre Herrero, Seunghyun Kang, Ted Baab and Kevin Lamyuktseung.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from SO-IL as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.
Veiled was conceptualized for the Greek Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Bienniale. It aimed to create a multi-sensory environment on an Aegean island. A mesh veil was designed to drape over a rocky valley on the island. This material would refract light, mitigate heat, and transform wind into a soundscape. This veil was intended to draw from nature in a manner consistent with sustainable practices, while heightening an awareness of place.
It is credited Courtesy of SO – IL.
