Tumbler, from Chromos collection
This is a Tumbler. It was designed by Scholten & Baijings, Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Scholten & Baijings as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.
Founded in 2000 by Stefan Scholten (Dutch, b. 1972) and Carole Baijings (Dutch, b. 1973), Scholten & Baijings explore the balance of color, form, and details of everyday objects. This piece from the Chromos collection was produced by Verreum, a glassworks manufacturer in Prague, Czech Republic. The collection combines colored glass with a metallic silver bottom coating, enhancing the reflectivity and luminosity of the glass.
It is credited Courtesy of Scholten & Baijings.
