Textile, Faux Bois
This is a Textile. It was designed by D.D. Tillett and Leslie Tillett. It is dated 1960–1979 and we acquired it in 2015. Its medium is cotton and its technique is screen printed on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
Faux bois or wood grain effects were a classic Tillett ‘texture,’ abstract, low-contrast patterns printed in neutral tones and used in interiors in combination with bolder patterns. This delicate white-on-white batiste was probably used as a casement sheer with a floral drapery.
