Photograph, Casserole and Sauce Boat, ca. 1928

This is a Photograph. It was designed by Marcel Goupy and photographed by Thérèse Bonney and manufactured by Haviland & Co.. It is dated ca. 1928. It is a part of the Smithsonian Libraries department.

Marcel Goupy studied architecture, sculpture, and interior decoration at École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He became a designer-decorator and, later, the director at the Maison Georges Rouard. Goupy is best known for his art deco style enamel work and designs on glass and ceramic tableware and jewelry created in the 1920s and 1930s. His designs feature graceful, simple, and clean forms ornamented with delicate geometric patterns as seen in this casserole and sauce boat, manufactured by Théodore Haviland in Limoges in 1928.

It is credited Collection of Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
