Guitar, 3D-Printed Acoustic Guitar
This is a guitar. It was designed by Scott Summit.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from 3D Systems as part of Beautiful Users.
Traditionally, a guitar’s appearance, form, and acoustics have been defined by the limitations of manufacturing techniques. With 3D printing, acoustical intent can drive the design. Once geometric and fabrication constraints are removed from consideration, specific acoustic characteristics, such as frequency response, can be designed into the instrument.
It is credited Courtesy of 3D Systems.
Its dimensions are
H x W x D: 101.6 × 43.2 × 20.3 cm (40 × 17 × 8 in.)
This object was previously on display as a part of the exhibition Beautiful Users.
