Model, Cooper Hewitt Admission Desk Models
This is a Model. It was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. It is dated 2013. Its medium is 3d-printed models, laser-cut cardboard.
3D printing was developed in the late 1980s for rapid prototyping. Today, 3D printing is widely used by architects, designers, and engineers to make reduced-scale models as well as fullsize prototypes. To design Cooper Hewitt’s new admission desk, Diller Scofidio + Renfro produced and presented several 3D-printed models before committing to a final design. Take a look at the finished desk in our Great Hall.
