fast ASHANTI Ring And Mold

This is a Ring and mold. It was designed by Johanna Dahm. It is dated 2002 and we acquired it in 2016. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Johanna Dahm employed a clay mold based on a casting technique used by the Ashanti tribe of Ghana, to create a series of irregular rings, such as this one, that embody the randomness of the molding process.

This object was donated by Susan Lewin. It is credited The Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
