Book, The Measure of Man: Human Factors in Design
This is a Book. It was designed by Alvin R. Tilley and Henry Dreyfuss Associates and published by Whitney Library of Design.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Ellen Lupton as part of Beautiful Users.
Alvin R. Tilley created a series of famous drawings of a typical American couple, dubbed “Joe” and “Josephine.” He based his drawings on data employed by the U.S. military (for men) and the fashion industry (for women). The drawings were published as lifesize wall
charts in the Dreyfuss office’s publication The Measure of Man.
