Domed Pit Latrine Slab Kit
This is a Project. It was designed by Martin Fisher and manufactured by KickStart International. It is dated 1992. Its medium is kits: mild steel, local hard wood; slabs: sand, cement, gravel, ballast, wire.
The KickStart Domed Pit Latrine Slab is based on an existing latrine slab designed by Bjorn Brandberg. New production methods allowed for mass production of the slabs by local laborers and the design was improved for better sanitation and lower cost. The dome shape makes it thinner and cheaper than typical reinforced concrete slabs; a tight-fitting lid creates a seal to keep the smell in and the flies out; and the wire handle heats up from sunlight, killing germs and reducing contamination.
